The new Fish & Game newsletter is hot off the virtual presses, and particularly timely in that there’s nary a hint of spring to be found anywhere. We’re on track to have the book out by fall, so watch this space for news as that time draws nearer.
Because this issue includes a look at some of the fascinating people and products I encountered on my October trip to Portland, Maine, I’m using a less frigid photograph to showcase the launch of cookblog 3.0. Over the last few months, the earlier layout (which was itself a much-needed update of a heinously ugly Blogger template) became increasingly offensive to me, especially the cluttered sidebars. Rapid visual obsolescence is a defining quality of this digital world, so herewith a clean and very photo-friendly layout that still has all the features the old one did. (Except the links, but I’ll have those up soon).
Comments are back on; the upgraded infrastructure is catching spam the way it’s supposed to. Leave one and let me know what you think about the newsletter and/or design. Ostensibly regular blogging should resume once the amazing new garden thaws out enough for me to do something with it. Or maybe sooner; daylight is starting to linger into the dinner hour these days.
Can’t think of anything witty or interesting to say, but I enjoy your blog via FB. Keep it up, and I’ll continue to log vaguely unhelpful comments that amuse me, at least.
“Amusing Ourselves—To Health!” would be a great title for your imminent self-help book.
Something something something witty.
[p.s. I like the new format. Although needs some spices or burlap or something.]
C’est très 2015, non?

Hi Peter,
On my iPad I could not see the comments section. I am on my iMac and they are easily seen.
I have bookmarked your sight. You always make me hungry.
Thanks. Are you sure you’re on the full post (not the front page) with your iPad?
aco okbl og?
Exactly. No wonder I almost failed chemistry; I was sitting next to you.
This is me, your host, leaving a comment from my phone to make sure it works on iOS devices. That is all.
All looks good to me but I’m wondering why there is no flattering photo of us enjoying a bottle of rosé and much good food at Eventide. I think that means you need to return to Portland. That is all. Eagerly awaiting The Book. xx
The reason for that lamentable lack is that I completely forgot to take a picture, despite having my camera on the counter next to us the whole time. I blame that egregious oversight on the quality of the company.
The company was suspect.
You’re a suspect? In like an armed robbery?
Exactly. Why weren’t we friends in high school? I think you scared me. Now I think it might make the whole thing more bearable. Lemon cocktail shenanigans and all. xo
I miss the cluttered sidebars…
They’re in your sauna.

You’re still there? How’s my suit coming along?
This is a great looking format with beautiful images, Peter. I look forward to reading!
Looks like the comments work, so I don’t need to add one. But here’s hoping you’ll blog prolifically in the upcomming year in the lovely new format. Oh k-rap. Your comment box doesn’t spell check.
Please post about your new garden!
